Privacy Policy

The short version

Your chat file is read and analyzed entirely inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to our servers, and we never see its contents. The only things we ever receive are: an optional email address (if you ask to be reminded next year), and anonymous usage statistics (which pages were viewed, not what was in your chat).

Your chat data

When you upload a WhatsApp export (.txt or .zip), it is parsed and analyzed entirely on your device using JavaScript running in your browser. This file, and every statistic calculated from it, stays in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close or reload the page. Chatsude has no server that receives, stores, or has any technical ability to access the contents of your chat.

Information we do collect

• Email address (optional).If you choose to leave your email to be reminded about next year's summary, we store that address, the year you asked about, and whether you asked for a one-time or yearly reminder. This is only collected with your explicit consent at the point you type it in — leaving this blank has no effect on using the product.
• Payment information. If you purchase the premium unlock, payment is processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy, who acts as the merchant of record for that transaction. We never receive, see, or store your card details — Lemon Squeezy handles that under its own privacy policy.
• Anonymous usage analytics. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used — for example, how many people reach the upload step. This does not include the contents of any chat file.

Who we share data with

The only third parties that ever process any of the data above are the services that run this site:

• PostHog (EU) — anonymous product analytics.
• Supabase (EU) — stores the optional reminder email, if you leave one.
• Resend — sends the reminder email, if you asked for one.
• Lemon Squeezy — processes payment for the premium unlock, as the merchant of record.
• Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the website itself.

We do not sell your data to anyone, for any reason.

If your chat includes another person

A WhatsApp chat export naturally contains messages from everyone in that conversation, not just you. Because this data is processed only on your own device and never sent anywhere, the other participant's messages are treated the same way as yours — they are never transmitted, stored, or seen by us. By uploading a chat, you confirm that you have the right to view and analyze that conversation yourself (for example, because you are a participant in it).

Cookies and local storage

PostHog may use cookies or browser storage to distinguish visitors for analytics purposes. Your browser may also store a small piece of information locally to remember that you unlocked premium content, so you don't need to pay again for the same result. None of this involves your chat content.

Your rights

If we hold your email address, you can ask us to tell you what we have, correct it, or delete it at any time — just write to us at the address below. If you are in the EU/UK, this reflects your rights under GDPR; if you are in Türkiye, see our KVKK Aydınlatma Metni for the specific rights that law grants you.

Children

Chatsude is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect email addresses from them.
